Barrow Town Hall - Banqueting Suite, Barrow in Furness, LA14 2LD Saturday 8th November 2025 - Sunday 9th November 2025 It is 1944. Barrovian soldier, Michael Lowden, has been captured at the fall of Singapore. The prisoner of war ship he is on is torpedoed and he is left floating in the South China Sea. Meanwhile back in Barrow his father, Charles, launches an appeal and brings the community together to support the families of POWs. Charles is allowed by the Japanese authorities to write 25 words a month to his captive son, Michael. What would you write in 25 words to your loved one far away? 25 words is a remarkable true story of love, hope, resilience and triumph. Featuring live music and the Barrow Rock and Pop Choir. Written by award winning playwright, Kevin Fegan, in conversation with Michael Lowden’s son, Jeff. (fb)

Making stories DEVELOPING talent building change The Company was formed in 1997 by the current Artistic Director Rachel Ashton to provide a place in BarrowinFurness for people especially young people to come and make original new drama based on their own ideas through improvising playing writing and generally messing around. Theatre Factory is based in the Cookes Arts and Media Centre next door to the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel where we have a fully equipped theatre studio and room to act improvise make things move around puppet bang drums animate perform and film Thousands of Barrow people have been involved with us over the years some for fun some to learn and some for work. The company has a core team of 6 and every year we work with a wide range of Freelance Artists from all over the country. You can meet us on the Team page.
