London Craft Week opens on Monday! If you’re in London next week, or planning a trip, London Craft Week is definitely worth a visit. @craftscouncil 17 is on from 12-18 May, transforming the city into a celebration of British and international creativity. With over 1,000 established and emerging makers and more than 400 exhibitions, masterclasses, workshops, and demonstrations, it’s shaping up to be a week not to be missed! Expect bold, original works that push the boundaries of material and form-metal mimics bamboo, ceramics echo the texture of natural rock, and traditional techniques are reimagined through contemporary design. Huge congratulations to sculptor @jenny_pickford on her memorable installation in Hong Kong. We’ll let Jenny explain… I’m thrilled to have a sculpture installed in the newly opened, urban art garden adjoining @thehenderson_hk Zaha Hadid is one of my all time favourite artists so to have my sculpture in a space designed by @zahahadidarchitects feels incredible. It is such an honour and I’d like to thank Dr Lee’s family for choosing one of my pieces to be displayed in this amazing space. The piece chosen is “Allium,” which is a stunning large-scale, Ryukyu cherry blossom flower sculpture, which has been installed in the garden as a permanent sculpture, to honour Henderson Land’s founder, Dr. Lee Shau-Kee, GMB. Symbolising the enduring spirit of life and resilience, this piece depicts blooms that thrive despite the challenges of drought, heat, and cold. The flowers embody a quiet strength and a harmonious beauty that resonates with the enduring spirit of life. In a similar vein, they reflect Dr. Lee’s unwavering determination and courageous character. Dr. Lee Shau-Kee GBM, passed away on 17th March 2025 at the age of 97. He was an entrepreneur, philanthropist and in 2007, he was awarded Hong Kong’s highest honour - the Grand Bauhinia Medal - in recognition of his contributions to society. Open to the public, The Henderson Art Garden is a groundbreaking initiative, representing art, innovation and sustainability.
