The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reports that an estimated 673 million people around the world are living with hunger, while other regions face the challenges of obesity and food waste. Today, we took one step toward change. Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, in collaboration with the Meru County Government and other partners, hosted the Munanda Food Expo to mark World Food Day 2025, themed “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future.” Together, we empowered local farmers with a comprehensive toolkit of climate-smart solutions. We covered essential skills like soil health management, crop management, livestock care, and market linkages, reinforced by technical innovations such as climate-resilient crop varieties, water harvesting, conservation agriculture, and the use of biogas for clean energy. These multifaceted approaches enable farmers to grow more with less, build crucial resilience against climate change, and actively protect the environment.
