Young people from Newark and Philadelphia participating in the Award had an exciting opportunity to demonstrate their achievements to His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh and ask him questions during the recent royal visit to the United States. Meeting with the Award participants was a key part of the royal visit to the #USA. Prince Edward met with the young people from eight schools in Newark District in Science Park High School and students from the School District of Philadelphia in Constitution High School. In Philadelphia, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh also visited Mural Arts PhiladelphiaMural Arts Philadelphia and Philadelphia Youth Basketball youth programmes, as well as Outward Bound USA . Prince Edward encouraged young people to keep up with non-formal education and learning new skills through the Award. Simone Nied, Gold Award Holder, inspired young people with her experience with the Award and its impact on her personal development. Participants also heard from Dan Weisberg, Shadow Chancellor of Schools in New York City, who spoke about the value of non-formal education in preparing a new generation for the wider world. During the royal visit, Prince Edward met with global and domestic leaders in education and youth programmes, took part in an educators' roundtable at Temple University and met leaders of a prominent volunteering organisation, the New York Junior League. The Award team in the USA is ready to partner with more schools and youth movements nationwide. Connect with The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award - USA to inspire more young people to take on a challenge and get their awards! #DofEUSA #NonFormalEducation (fb)
🙌 We are proud to introduce our newly elected 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 (IYRs) who will represent youth voices from 2025 to 2028, helping to shape the future of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award at the global level. This year’s election attracted nearly 300 applications from exceptional Award holders around the world, and we were blown away by the deep commitment to youth development, non-formal education, and global citizenship that these brilliant young people had! After a collaborative global process, eight outstanding young leaders were elected to serve as part of our International Council steering us into the future. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all applicants for their inspiring contributions, to the voters for their engagement, and to our National Award Offices and review committee members for their vital role in bringing this process to life. ➡️ Learn more about the newly elected IYRs and their role in shaping the future of the Award: https://lnkd.in/gi-NFwCn #IntawardAlumni #AwardAlumni #InternationalYouthRepresentatives #YouthLeadership (fb)
