After wildfires damaged large parts of our Ala forest corridors in Sainte Luce earlier this year, SEED has ramped up prevention efforts ahead of the windy season 🔥🌲 Alongside over 200 community members, we cleared 10-metre firebreaks along all five Ala corridors and a 20-metre firebreak around forest fragment S8, where the fire spread in January. We also trained 10 community fire agents and held fire preparedness sessions across seven nearby communities. This week we visited the Light Library in Akaramena, launched in February with @jiroveofficiel, Solar United Madagascar, and the local community💡 With only 10.9% of Madagascar’s rural population having access to electricity, many having to walk kilometres just to charge a phone.
