“ Vapes and me” An animated film of a fox talking to a dog with a pigeon playing an accordion !! This is what you get when you work with young people as a youth worker I have loved doing youth work with young people for the past 34yrs. Eight amazingly talented local young people have just finished developing a young person led social action project, concerned at the health risks of vaping, and the use of drugs in vapes. We supported them apply for funding with VODA and UKSP which was successful, they then worked with Simon Hetherington a local Animator, to create an educational resource to explore and raise awareness of Vaping for children and young people, supported by the young mayor Coby. I have always been amazed at the creativity of young people which is often done with a lot of fun and laughter. Their act of kindness on a voluntary basis for others benefit is often missed by society at how special young people are. This gift is now free on the internet for all and they are keen for the animation to be used as an educational resource in schools youth settings etc. This is my last social action project before I retire but the value of effective issue based youth work which is young person led is undervalued so and I am proud of all the young people who have done lots of social action projects over the years, let us celebrate how amazing local young people from the meadow well and surrounding areas are, and thank you for sharing this with baldy Mike its been a real privilege.
