18th Century Watermill, on an island, near Malton, N Yorks. Island usually open, Mill building open alternate Sundays. FREE school visits & great events! Howsham Mill is a beautifully restored flour-mill which now generates renewable electricity and is an environmental education centre offering free school visits and a range of other educational events. What3Words for car park: acting.artichoke.unites Find new uses for old buildings by adapting them to generate renewable energy. Current project: Howsham Mill, North Yorkshire, an 18th century watermill which we are restoring for use as an environmental study/community centre. The waterwheel plus two Archimedean Screw turbines will provide power for the building itself, and an income from electricity sales to support the project in the future.

Restored as an education centre in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty generating renewable energy. A FLOUR MILL FOR HOWSHAM ESTATE Howsham Mill is built on the site of an earlier mill. It mills flour for the Howsham Estate for almost 200 years 1755 AN END FOR THE WORKING MILL The last miller leaves in 1947 the land is sold and the building falls into disrepair.
