THE COLLINGWOOD FOUNDATION

The Collingwood Foundation is a registered nonprofit organization (Charity number: 1108124) based in Northumberland, United Kingdom. It was established on 24 October 2011 through the merger of the Collingwood School and Media Arts College School Fund and the Friends of Collingwood. The foundation's primary mission is to enhance the education and life experiences of students attending Collingwood School and Media Arts College, as well as to provide opportunities for family learning and community activities[1][2][3].

Activities

The Foundation serves as a collaborative body involving staff, students, parents, community members, and grant providers, united in the vision of supporting student development and success. It seeks to offer resources and opportunities beyond those funded by the school budget, including access to business and enterprise activities in the North East of England. This is achieved through grant applications and partnerships that facilitate additional educational and developmental initiatives[1][3].

Additionally, the Foundation operates a shop offering original Collingwood products, such as framed artwork and seasonal items, with proceeds supporting its charitable activities. It also provides spaces and services within the school premises that can be utilized by the community, further contributing to the Foundation's funding and outreach[1].

Governance and Policies

The Collingwood Foundation operates under strict governance policies in line with the Charity Commission for England and Wales. These include policies addressing bullying and harassment, complaints, financial reserves, internal financial controls, risk management, safeguarding, serious incident reporting, social media, trustee conflicts of interest, and trustee expenses[3].

Financial Overview

For the financial year ending 31 March 2024, the Foundation reported a total income that included a government grant of £4,000. It is managed by a board of 13 trustees and maintains transparency with no employees receiving total benefits over £60,000. The charity's financial practices are publicly accessible and adhere to regulatory standards to ensure responsible stewardship of funds[3][4].

Geographic and Social Impact

The Foundation's work supports a broad range of areas including education, training, disability support, arts, culture, heritage, science, economic and community development, recreation, and youth services. It acts as both a provider of physical resources such as buildings and facilities, and as an umbrella and resource body for related activities in the Northumberland region[3].

Overall, The Collingwood Foundation plays a vital role in supporting the educational environment and community engagement related to Collingwood School and Media Arts College, fostering opportunities that contribute to the holistic development of its students and the wider community[1][3].
