Gedling Conservation Trust Nottingham Home Welcome to the Gedling Conservation Trust The Gedling Conservation Trust GCT was set up in 2005 to take over the ownership of the Netherfield Lagoons Nottinghamshire from UK Coal after they became redundant with the closure of Gedling Pit. The GCT then applied to English Nature to have the site designated as a Local Nature Reserve so that its importance as a wildlife conservation site would be acknowledged and bylaws could be set up to protect it. Now the Trust manages the Netherfield Lagoons Local Nature Reserve on the outskirts of Nottingham and has a part time manager who works to maintain the biological diversity and interest of the site. GCT receives no government or Local Authority funding and is seeking funds to ensure the future of the site.
