We started the week with a visit to Green Light Trust's woodland camp at Castan Woods, Martlesham with some of our Wider Horizons giving circle members. This ancient wood was looking particularly beautiful in the dappled morning sunshine and it was wonderful to see teams of people hard at work in various camps around the 20-acre woodland. Green Light Trust work with children and adults to help build confidence and improve wellbeing through hands-on activities whilst also maintaining and nurturing natural spaces throughout Suffolk. Jess from our Grants team recently joined Ipswich Community Media (ICM) at Ipswich School for the Emulate Community Cricket Match: Blue Tigers vs Ipswich School! The Blue Tigers are a brilliant new team of 15 young Afghan asylum seekers, brought together through ICM’s Emulate & Making Waves programmes, in partnership with YMCA, Community Praxis, and Sports Sense. After weeks of training, they played — and won — their first ever match last week! This inspiring initiative is part-funded by the Serious Violence Duty Fund and shows the power of sport in building confidence, community, and opportunity.
