Our teacher training projects don't rest over summer! 👩‍🏫 ☀️ July has been a busy month for advocacy on our literacy project - training teachers in the Jolly Phonics method to improve English literacy for thousands of children. Our Country Director, Elsa Kebede was in the UK to present our work this year at the international @jollylearning conference. We were delighted to host the CEO of Teacher Development from the Ministry of Education, at the conference too, and learnt a lot about integration of the methodology from other countries and their trainers. On her return to Ethiopia, Elsa attended the workshop on Scalable Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Practices to End Learning Poverty at the @africanunion_official in Addis to support our international colleagues in representing the remarkable impact that Jolly Phonics has on literacy outcomes. We look forward to following up this work through further conversation with the Ministry of Education, as well as the Amhara and Oromia Regional Education Bureaus who have been so supportive of our projects so far.
