As the leaves turn and autumn walks begin, it’s important to remember that conkers can be dangerous for dogs. These shiny seeds contain a toxin called aesculin, found in all parts of the horse chestnut tree – seeds, bark, leaves and flowers. If eaten, aesculin can upset your dog’s stomach, causing vomiting, diarrhoea, drooling, or loss of appetite ⚠️ Conkers can also be a choking hazard or cause an obstruction in the stomach. 👉 If you think your dog has eaten a conker, or is showing any concerning signs, always contact your vet for advice. 📢 Share this with your fellow dog lovers to help keep every four-legged friend safe on their autumn adventures. That's a wrap for another year! Westminster dog of the year would like to thank everyone who voted, the MP's, their incredible dogs and the supporters for making it all possible. This year's overall crown has been nabbed by Poykee the Keeshond and Sarah Edwards, Labour MP for Tamworth. Following in second place was Mabel, a rescue dog owned by Becky Gittins, Labour MP for Clwyd East. Coming in third place was Lucy, a Labrador and office dog with Andrew Snowden, Conservative MP for Fylde.
