Since our inception in 2007 we have empowered 71 leaders who embody the spirit of Shackleton to make a substantial impact in their communities with innovative projects that make a positive impact to the lives of disadvantaged young people. Our Impact The history of The Shackleton Foundation Making History The Shackleton Foundation was established in 2007 by the direct descendants of Sir Ernest Shackletons 190708 Nimrod expedition to celebrate the legacy of the legendary polar explorer and great man. Leadership Legacy Shackleton helped others to overcome their doubts and fears in the face of true adversity.
