Sickle Cell and Young Stroke Survivors - SCYSS

Sickle Cell & Young Stroke Survivors provides support to children, young people and families affected by Sickle Cell Disorders and Childhood Strokes. Did you know that 20% of children living with the genetic blood condition – Sickle cell anaemia will have a stroke by the age of 16? Sickle Cell and Young Stroke Survivors support the social and psychological needs of children and young people living with Sickle Cell disease and childhood Stroke in the UK. We proactively address the day-to-day needs of the children and their families to reduce isolation. We work mainly in England and are keen to provide free medical treatment and drugs to children in Africa.

Building bridges breaking stigma How old do you have to be to suffer a stroke. Of the 3500 babies born every year with sickle cell disease 100 will suffer a stroke before their ninth birthday. Help us to help them access adequate care and manage their condition. How we assist Using our personal experiences of sickle cell we design our programmes and projects with zeal and passion to make the lives of children more bearable and enjoyable.
