The **Association of Jamaican Nationals (Birmingham) UK** (AJN) is a registered charity (No. 1130750) established in 1978. Based in Birmingham, it serves Jamaican communities in the West Midlands and maintains cultural and social ties between the UK and Jamaica.  

## History and Purpose  
Founded as a representative body for Jamaican nationals and those of Jamaican heritage, AJN focuses on community support, cultural preservation, and cross-cultural collaboration. While some sources cite 1990 as a milestone (relating to its formalisation under the name "Institute of Jamaican Nationals"), the organisation traces its origins to 1978.  

## Activities and Events  
AJN organises annual events such as **Jamaica in the Square**, a public celebration of Jamaican culture, and a **Thanksgiving Service** marking Jamaican Independence Day in August. The **Local Heroes and Be Inspired Youth Gala** (e.g., October 2024 at Aston Villa FC’s Holte Suite) recognises contributions of Jamaicans to UK society through awards, networking, and cultural performances.  

## Charitable Work  
Fundraising initiatives support vulnerable members of the Jamaican community in the West Midlands, including welfare assistance and educational projects. AJN also partners with charities in Jamaica aiding abandoned and disabled children.
