The most important part of any relationship is being heard, understood, and valued, without it, even a family can feel distant. Every child deserves the warmth of belonging and the security of knowing they’re safe in addition to shelter. That’s why we stay closely connected with the families of our girls, not just to check in, but to truly listen. To share in their challenges and celebrate their wins. And for those who don’t have a safe home to return to, we provide more than shelter, we offer a space where they feel protected, understood, and deeply cared for. On this International Day of Families, we honour every voice in our community, from the children we care about to the volunteers and donors who walk beside us. From Day 1 to One Day In 1991, when our Founder, Sandhya Garu, found little Rani—abandoned and afraid—she did what a mother does: held her close and built a home around her. That moment sparked the beginning of Aarti Home. Since then, hundreds of girls have found not just shelter, but a family. Harshita and Vashita, left in identical baskets, grew up as sisters of the heart—their laughter echoing through our cottages. Saritha, who first stepped into a classroom at eight, now dreams of becoming a doctor and healing others like her. Radhika, Aarti Home’s very first child, arrived at two—malnourished and silent. Today, she’s a Radiology Technician at Apollo Hospital. And Revati, once a tailoring trainee, now leads change in her village, campaigning for girls’ education and women’s dignity. These are just a few of the many lives transformed at Aarti—an example of the change love, care, and opportunity can bring. At Aarti for Girls, motherhood is a calling answered daily by women who choose to nurture, guide, and love with all they have. There’s been no looking back from that one moment in 1991.
