Meet Mariama* from Bo, a participant in Street Child’s Family Business for Education programme. 📚 She lost her husband just 3 months ago and is now supporting her 7 children on her own. Through the programme, she received a grant and training to grow her business selling fresh fruit and vegetables. She’s now expanded enough to supply other local businesses. Before joining, none of her 7 children were in school. Now ALL of them are enrolled and learning! At Street Child, we know poverty is one of the biggest barriers to education. Our Family Business for Education programme gives caregivers the tools to build sustainable livelihoods and keep their children in school. Hello from Sierra Leone!🇸🇱 Over the last two days, participants in this edition of the #SierraLeoneMarathon have been visiting rural schools and learning more about Street Child programmes. Both Kortohun Community Primary School and Konta Wallah School were initially built by their communities. Street Child supported these schools by renovating and expanding the facilities, ensuring safe and welcoming learning environments for their students. Beyond infrastructure, Street Child provided essential learning materials like books and pencils, giving children the tools they need to thrive at school!
