At Dallaglio RugbyWorks, we see every day how exclusion and poor mental health are closely connected. In the last academic year, 62.23% of children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs were suspended from school — compared to a national average of 9.33%. Behind those numbers are young people who often feel isolated, unheard and without the support they need. That’s where we step in. Through 1:1 mentoring, we give young people a trusted adult who listens, guides and believes in them. Through resilience workshops, we help them develop coping strategies, emotional awareness and self-belief. And through the values of rugby, we create a sense of teamwork and belonging that builds confidence on and off the pitch. We’re incredibly inspired by Fay, who is taking on an extraordinary challenge in support of Dallaglio RugbyWorks. Over the next year, she’ll be tackling “Beyond the Highest Highs and the Lowest Lows” — a year-long journey of running, walking, hiking, and lifting that will cover a total elevation of 10,984km — the depth of the Mariana Trench 🌊 — to represent the physical and emotional highs and lows young people face. Her goal? To raise £10,900 — a figure that reflects the number of young people excluded from education in the UK each year.
