VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: BEN - TOUCH WOOD For us, the experience of volunteering with our projects is very much a two-way street. It's vitally important that the time our volunteers spend with us helps them on their journey to wherever they want to be. So, we love it when someone who supports us goes on to achieve their own goals. One of those success stories is EMERGE Touch Wood volunteer Ben Fairhurst, whose experience in our reclaimed woodworking initiative helped round off his skills and experience to fill in the gaps on his CV, in turn enabling him to get a job; first with us at EMERGE, and then as a joiner at Wigan Council. “Volunteering gave me much more than just joinery experience," he says. "It gave me more confidence, a sense of progression.
