Though distinct, the UK-based ALAMIRE Charitable Trust aligns with this broader vision of advancing musical education and appreciation, suggesting a commitment to similar values and goals within its charitable framework.

Byrd’s highly popular anthem O Lord make thy servant Elizabeth is thought to be a homage to the Queen upon the composer's arrival as a Gentleman of the Chapel Royal in 1572. It remained sufficiently popular to be re-texted with the names of monarchs up to the time of Queen Anne (r. 1702–1714). Two of these monarchs were named Charles. The anthem received an exponential increase in performances during the extended reign of the late Queen Elizabeth II (r. 1952–2022), who has been succeeded by her eldest son Charles, and thus is now in its third reincarnation as O Lord make thy servant Charles [III] our King. And, now, at a lusciously warm pitch... Resonus Classics (fb)
