IMPOSSIBLE is NOTHING Daily Devotional | Friday, 4 July 2025 SLOW TO ANGER: A POWERFUL RELATIONSHIP SKILL FOR UNMARRIED AND MARRIED A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger appeases contention. (Proverbs 15:18 AMPC) Today's Bible passage reveals a powerful relationship skill for unmarried and married individuals. It proclaims that being slow to anger can quell disputes, while a quick-tempered approach often fuels them. For a good understanding of the subject matter, we must first understand what the expression 'slow to anger' means. Being slow to anger is not a sign of weakness, but a powerful display of self-control. It means being able to process a situation, internally examine the right step to take, and calmly act with integrity. This discipline allows us to avoid rushing to judgment or acting impulsively. We can think through every situation with someone and decide the ones that deserve acting upon and the ones to ignore, thereby empowering ourselves in our relationships. Living in an imperfect world with imperfect people, we can't avoid experiencing unpleasant situations when we relate to a person, irrespective of how well-behaved the person is. Understanding this inevitability can help us approach these situations more calmly and less impulsively, making our relationships more harmonious. When you react with a quick temper to a person, the person feels unloved and unappreciated, putting a strain on your relationship. Conversely, when you examine a situation before acting, you will act calmly, making the person feel loved and fostering your relationship. Are you unmarried or married? Examining every situation before acting calmly will help you excel in your relationships. PRAYER POINT Dear Father, help me to think through every matter before acting in Jesus' name. IMPOSSIBLE is NOTHING Daily Devotional | Thursday, 3 July 2025 USING WORDS WITH RESTRAIN: A CRUCIAL RELATIONSHIP TIP The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered. (Proverbs 17:27 NIV) Today's scripture reveals a potent relationship skill — using words with restraint. This concept, synonymous with 'slow to speak' in James 1:19, empowers you to talk less and carefully consider your words before speaking, putting you in the driver's seat of your relationships. When one speaks too much, they will talk without considering what they say and end up saying things that will cause disputes. Remarkably, most conflicts people experience in their relationships can be traced to the words they speak or how they use the words. Hence, if you talk less and consider your words before using them, you will indeed excel in your relationships. Unknown to many, people develop a strong affinity with those with whom they constantly share their problems and stories. So, if you want your spouse, fiance/fiancee, or friend to develop an affinity with you, talk less and allow them to share their problems and stories. Excessive talking often leads to falsehoods. However, by speaking less and carefully considering your words, you can avoid lies and foster an environment of honesty in your relationships. When you use your words with restraint, you give yourself more time to think. This thoughtful approach can help you avoid saying things you don't mean or making promises you can't keep, strengthening the bond in your relationships. Are you single or married? Talking less and carefully considering your words before speaking will help you excel in your relationships. PRAYER POINT Dear Father, help me to talk less and consider my words before speaking in Jesus' name.
