Today’s #CharityCoProduction seminar sparked some great conversations on how charities can put the people they represent at the heart of their comms. Here’s some headlines from the discussions: - Listen first – Every successful co-production process begins with genuinely listening to people with lived experience to develop your understanding. - Remove barriers – Identify and remove obstacles that prevent authentic and joyful participation rooted in respect. This means prioritising equity, not just equality, by recognising people's different starting points and providing what they need to participate fully. Examples include offering fair incentives, meeting people where they are, and providing various ways to get involved. - What it means to shift power - Focus on working in ways that centres a "power with" dynamic to share decision-making between charities and communities, from auditing your existing processes, adjusting the language you use and how outputs are decided.
