The pain of losing a loved one can be overwhelming for many adults, but imagine a child or a teen trying to grieve the loss of a parent, grandparent, or sibling. The Community Hospice recently held its annual bereavement camp called Camp Erin which helps kids heal from the pain of loss. Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Adirondacks, Camp Erin offers a safe and nurturing environment where kids can engage in fun activities while learning essential coping skills. Most importantly, the weekend enabled young people to connect with others their own age who are also grieving a loved one. Campers participated in outdoor games, hiking, kayaking, crafting and created luminaries to remember and honor their loved ones. The camp was facilitated by Hospice grief counselors and volunteers.
