Our hearts are heavy after the terror attack at Heaton Park Synagogue on Yom Kippur. BBYO UK, and the entire global BBYO family, sends nechama (comfort) and ahavah (love) to the victims of the attack, our BBYO Manchester “Weizmann” chapter, the Jewish community of Manchester, and Am Yisrael everywhere during this time of pain and uncertainty. It is heartbreaking that Jews around the world must constantly show such resilience, relying on institutions like CST to protect our most sacred moments of togetherness. We are deeply grateful for their professionalism and courage, which prevented this hateful act from fulfilling its full intent. Yom Kippur should be a time of reflection, unity, and peace—not fear. Too many times in the last two years, we have turned to our community for strength in moments of sorrow. And time and again, that same community proves to be our greatest source of comfort and resilience. As we read in Avinu Malkeinu: “תהא השעה הזאת שעת רחמים ועת רצון – May this hour be the hour of mercy and a time of acceptance.” May we hold one another close in that spirit of mercy and compassion, and may our resilience as a people continue to bring comfort and strength. Yom tov from bbyo uk ❤️🕊️🇬🇧 As we approach this new year, we reflect on our wrongs and our rights, how to improve ourselves as people and set new targets to reach. As this year comes to a close and the new one begins, we must not forget the 48 captives that are still in Gaza, whose lives were halted to a close on October 7th 2023.
