KartForce
KartForce is a United Kingdom-based charitable organisation dedicated to supporting injured serving and ex-serving military personnel through participation in endurance kart racing. Registered under charity number 1146454, KartForce seeks to inspire and aid the rehabilitation of injured troops, including those experiencing disabilities, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and mental health challenges, by engaging them in the competitive and therapeutic world of motorsport.
History and Background
KartForce was founded by Dave Player, a former Royal Engineer who suffered a severe spinal injury. Drawing on his personal experience with rehabilitation and a passion for motorsport, Player established the charity to help injured troops regain confidence and purpose through kart racing. The initiative was designed to provide a challenging yet accessible motorsport environment where injured service members can participate competitively with suitable vehicle adaptations.
Mission and Activities
The core mission of KartForce is to enable injured military personnel to enter and compete in endurance kart racing events both within the UK and internationally. The charity focuses on adapting racing karts with specially designed hand controls, which accommodate a wide range of physical disabilities. These innovations allow drivers with various impairments to compete on an equal footing with able-bodied racers.
KartForce operates as a team of serving and ex-serving injured troops who participate in various endurance karting events. Beyond the competitive aspect, the organisation emphasizes the therapeutic benefits of motorsport as a means to aid recovery and mental health rehabilitation. It also supports other initiatives that help injured troops rebuild their lives following injury.
Support and Endorsements
KartForce has received notable endorsements from public figures and veterans who praise its unique approach to rehabilitation through sport. Supporters include Lord Michael Ashcroft KCMG, adventurer Bear Grylls, broadcaster Sir Michael Parkinson, Col Bob Stewart DSO MP, and comedian John Bishop. They commend the charity's combination of thrill, fun, and practical support for the welfare of injured servicemen and women.
Relationship with Team BRIT
KartForce is linked to Team BRIT, another organisation focused on disability motorsport. Dave Player also founded Team BRIT, which utilizes the innovative hand control systems developed for KartForce. These advancements have positioned Team BRIT at the forefront of disability motorsport technology, enabling wider participation and competitive success for disabled drivers.
Impact
KartForce plays a significant role in promoting equality and inclusion within motorsport, showcasing how adaptive technology and tailored support can overcome barriers for injured service members. By fostering a community of resilient athletes, KartForce contributes to the broader goals of recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration for veterans and active-duty personnel recovering from injury.
This overview captures KartForce’s charitable purpose, activities, and contribution to both motorsport and military rehabilitation sectors.

Back in Action at Daytona MK – The 24hr Challenge It's been a while since they've raced there, so the KartForce lads were buzzing to return to Daytona Milton Keynes for the legendary 24-hour race. With tents already covering the paddock when we arrived Friday night, we knew it was going to be a packed grid and a competitive weekend. Saturday kicked off with an early start, bacon butties in hand, and eyes glued to every weather app we could find—classic British forecast roulette! With a race plan locked in, we hit the track for practice, adapting quickly as the conditions shifted between wet and dry. Team captain Adam led the charge in qualifying, putting us P11 on the grid. As the race began, we quickly found our rhythm—by the end of the first stint, we were up to P5, and held that position solidly throughout the entire 24 hours. It was a true team effort, with every driver clocking consistent lap times and keeping it clean—zero racing incidents from lights to flag. A standout moment came around 5am when the rain rolled in. Josh, one of our rookies, and new to wet weather racing, was behind the wheel. He handled the challenge like a pro, keeping pace and holding position like he’d done it a hundred times before. The final four hours brought more weather drama, but the team adapted like clockwork to every change in grip and visibility. Massive thanks to Daytona for hosting another unforgettable event. The lads had a blast, raced hard, and are already counting down the days until the next one. #InjuredTroops #KartRacing #KartForce (fb)
That's a wrap on the Daytona MK 24hr, a fantastic finish for the Kartforce team showing their pace and experience by finishing 5th in a very competitive class. Race report to come soon, when the drivers have recovered a bit! (fb)
