📍Open Call | Public Art Commission As part of our youth-led cultural memory archiving project, Shubbak is looking to commission an Arab/SWANA artist, audio producer, creative technologist, or multidisciplinary creative team to design an interactive public realm installation that activates Arab & SWANA community memory across the boroughs of Brent and Westminster. We’re looking for a creative intervention that brings these voices to the streets — through sound, image, text, projection, audiovisual installation, digital mapping, signage, or spatial activations such as walking tours — allowing local residents and passersby to listen, learn, and reflect on Arab-SWANA heritage embedded in these neighbourhoods. Join us for // Threads of Memory //- a creative workshop organised by The Showroom and Shubbak, inviting Arab and SWANA women from London’s diasporic communities to gather, reflect, and create from their personal and inherited memories. Led by // Malak Elghuel //, an interdisciplinary artist and an integrative therapist, the workshop centres textile-making as a gentle form of storytelling and cultural archiving. The session will invite participants to explore how memory is held in fabric in the textures of domestic cloth, family garments, inherited patterns, or everyday rituals of care.
