We are deeply saddened by the passing of Leonard Tow ’50, a cherished alumnus, generous benefactor, and dear friend to Brooklyn College. Len’s belief in the power of education transformed our campus and touched countless lives. Through his vision and generosity, Brooklyn College was able to build the majestic Leonard & Claire Tow Center for the Performing Arts and develop the excellent Tow Mentoring Initiative, both of which profoundly changed the campus community for the better. Len’s generosity, along with that of his late wife and fellow alumnae Claire Tow ’52, additionally supported research, the arts, faculty and student travel, and many other important endeavors at the College. Through the work of The Tow Foundation, Len opened doors for thousands of students who would not otherwise had the chance to pursue their dreams. His legacy will be felt in every classroom, every lab, and every gathering space his generosity made possible. His spirit lives on in the hearts of the countless students, faculty, and community members whose lives he enriched. We extend our deepest condolences to the Tow family. The memory of Leonard Tow will forever be a light on the Brooklyn College campus. (fb)
