Kids Club Kampala
Overview
Kids Club Kampala is a UK-registered charity with the primary aim of transforming the lives of vulnerable children in Uganda. Founded in 2009 by Olivia Barker White, Corrie Fraser, and Samuel Wambayo, the charity operates with a strong presence both in the UK and Uganda, focusing on empowering communities and overcoming poverty in slum areas, especially in Kampala.
Mission
The mission of Kids Club Kampala is centered around enabling children to survive and thrive, predominantly in Uganda's slums. The charity works to address immediate needs while building sustainable futures for these children through education, nutrition, protection, and skills development. This approach is designed to enhance self-esteem and hope among children facing extreme poverty.
Activities and Programs
Kids Club Kampala implements a range of programs to support vulnerable children:
- Education and Nutrition: Providing access to free education and serving hot meals to combat hunger.
- Protection and Support: Offering counseling services to vulnerable young people and supporting them in their family and community contexts.
- Skills Development: Offering vital skills training, particularly for women, to empower them economically.
- Family Reunification: Focusing on rescuing children from abandonment and reuniting them with their families.
Over the past decade, the charity has achieved significant milestones, including providing over 1.5 million hot meals, offering free education to over 1,000 children, and providing counseling to more than 3,000 young people.
Organizational Structure
Kids Club Kampala's leadership includes both UK and Ugandan teams. The UK team is led by Olivia Barker White and focuses on strategic planning, fundraising, and communications. The Ugandan team, under the leadership of Samuel Wambayo, oversees project implementation, administration, and monitoring. The charity operates with six permanent employees, eight trustees, and a group of volunteers supporting its activities.
Financial Overview
In the financial year ending December 2023, Kids Club Kampala reported a total income of approximately £666,046, primarily from donations and trading activities. The charity's expenditure for charitable activities was £716,188, reflecting its commitment to using resources directly towards its mission. Despite operating with a deficit, the charity continues to focus on sustainable community development and child welfare programs.
Achievements
The charity's work has been recognized for its impact in empowering communities and transforming children's lives. With a strong emphasis on collaboration with local communities, Kids Club Kampala has become a model for sustainable aid and community empowerment in Uganda.

Today is Mother's Day in Uganda🌻 We are celebrating all of the wonderful mothers in the communities we work with. We believe family-based care is the best thing for children. As soon as an at-risk child is referred to our Ewafe project, we begin to search for their immediate and extended family members. So far in 2025, we have supported 12 children to successfully reintegrate with loving families! Visit our website to learn more about our Ewafe project and how you can help. #MothersDay #MothersDayUganda #Mothers #Uganda #Kampala #KidsClubKampala #Celebration #FamilyStrengthening #Family #SmallCharity (fb)
