Auto Italia is pleased to announce the appointment of six new trustees who will join the organisation this summer.⁠ Bilal Akkouche, Assistant Curator of International Art at Tate Modern Lauren Buckley, Senior Project Curator, International Partnerships, Tate Helen Delaney, Fundraiser at Horniman Museum and Gardens Kitty Malton, Communications Consultant Sin Wai Kin, Artist Jo Townshend, Director & Chair of London’s Contemporary Visual Arts Network (CVAN London); Independent Researcher & Education Consultant The new trustees bring a wealth of expertise to the Board, and will play a vital role in the development and implementation of Auto Italia’s vision and mission. They will be joining existing trustees Bo Escrit, Sunil Gupta, Eleanor Pinfield (chair) and Ben Vickers. We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Matthew Leitch and Beatrice Pembroke as they step down from their roles on the Board of Trustees. Join us this Thursday 10 April, 6-8pm, for the opening of ‘THE ECHO OF PROTEST IS DISTANT TO THE PROTEST’, an exhibition of new work by Berlin-based Iranian interdisciplinary artist Nazanin Noori. You can also join us on Saturday 12 April, 1 pm, for an artist talk, as Noori discusses the exhibition and her wider practice. The event is free - please follow the link in bio to register. Noori’s newly commissioned works explore the emotional (im)mobilisation of the public in the context of political protest, reflecting on the uprisings following the death of Jina Amini in Iran. Through sculptural and sound installations, Noori envisions a post-revolutionary landscape where failing despots mourn their own downfall, shifting the focus from victims to oppressors. This conversation will delve into her artistic process, the role of sound and space in shaping narratives and the complexities of witnessing political events from afar. ‘THE ECHO OF PROTEST IS DISTANT TO THE PROTEST’ was conceived and produced by Auto Italia in collaboration with CCA Berlin. ‘IF THERE IS GOD NO ONE WILL BE DAMNED / A HOLLOW SONG SUSPENDED’ is co-commissioned and produced by Auto Italia and M Leuven.
