Ever wondered what's in your local museum's stores? 🕵️ 🏺 This brilliant behind-the-scenes tour of Valence House was created by a group of young people from Barking and Dagenham, as part of a series of workshops funded by our Arts and Humanities Research Council (#AHRC) Impact Acceleration Account grants. Together the group uncovered new facts and finds from their local area's past, including objects discovered during our community excavation at Valence House in 2022. Our Coasts in Mind team have been working with Timescapes Kent to explore the life and afterlife of the Alice Watts, a shipwreck which lies just off the shore of Whitstable. Their new blog and storymap uncover stories of the people who owned and sailed on her, the dangerous journeys she took around the English Channel, and how her wreck became a important part of the local landscape.
