Meet Ellis, Kris and their young daughter Olwen, the family behind Wild Tor Organics. On their 10-acre plot at the ELC’s Orchard Park site on the edge of Bodmin Moor, they are bringing new life to the land with vegetables, fruit, herbs, nuts and seed crops grown for local markets, food hubs, small businesses and their own veg box scheme. They’ve designed the farm as a silvo-horticulture system, planting trees, hedges, coppice and shelterbelts alongside their crops. What was once a dairy pasture is now being transformed into a place rich with habitats for wildlife, creating shelter, biodiversity and resilience in the face of climate change. Everything here is grown organically (in conversion), with green manures and homemade composts nourishing the soil. At the heart of it all is a simple wish: to feed their community with nutritious, seasonal food and inspire the next generation of ecologically minded growers.
