Year 4 have been busy researching the animals that live on the Great Barrier Reef, using this as inspiration to create vibrant representations through watercolour painting. As part of their art curriculum, they’ve developed key skills including colour mixing, experimenting with primary colours to create secondary and tertiary hues. They have also applied various watercolour techniques, such as wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry and blending, to gain better control of the medium and create texture and depth in their artwork. Building on these skills, they have moved on to creating 3D sculptures of their favourite reef animals using art clay. This has allowed them to explore new dimensions of art, focusing on form, structure, and perspective, as they learn how to bring their creations to life in three dimensions. This transition from 2D to 3D art has significantly broadened their artistic skills and confidence, further enriching their Year 4 art journey. (fb)
