From their radical beginnings in Rochdale, Lancashire in the 1840s to today’s global movement of over a billion members, co-operatives have offered powerful responses to social and economic challenges. Delivered in partnership with Imperial College London, this five week online course traces the origins, global spread, and radical legacy of the co-operative movement. It explores peace activism, the women’s movement, youth education and climate resilience, while asking whether co-operativism still offers real answers in today’s world.
