NACCOM (No Accommodation Network)
NACCOM, or the No Accommodation Network, is a UK-based infrastructure charity dedicated to addressing destitution among people seeking asylum, refugees, and migrants with no recourse to public funds (NRPF). The organization operates as a network of over 130 frontline organizations and charities across the UK, providing temporary accommodation and support services.
History
NACCOM evolved from an informal network established in 2006 to a registered charity in 2015. Over the years, it has grown significantly in stature and influence, supporting thousands of individuals annually through a combination of accommodation, financial assistance, and other forms of support.
Mission and Activities
NACCOM’s mission is to end destitution amongst those navigating the UK's asylum and immigration system. It achieves this through several key activities:
- Network Development: The organization collaborates with its member organizations to enhance their capacity and develop effective responses to destitution.
- Policy and Advocacy: NACCOM works to influence policy and advocate for systemic change, pushing for a more just and humane immigration system.
- Research and Community Engagement: Through initiatives like its Community Research Programme, NACCOM empowers individuals with lived experience to contribute to understanding and tackling destitution.
- Media and Communications: The organization amplifies its message and impact through strategic media engagement.
Impact
NACCOM's efforts have been highlighted in recent years by significant challenges within the UK asylum system, including a rise in refugee homelessness. The organization has played a critical role in supporting frontline services, which have seen increased demand due to these systemic issues.
Leadership
NACCOM has appointed directors with extensive experience in advocating for marginalized groups, including recent appointments who bring expertise in housing, homelessness, and policy development. This leadership helps shape the organization’s strategy and direction, ensuring it remains a leading voice in addressing destitution.
Membership and Governance
As an infrastructure charity, NACCOM supports and coordinates activities among its diverse membership of frontline organizations. It fosters collaboration and innovation within the network to address the complex needs of its beneficiaries effectively.
NACCOM's work underscores the importance of collaborative action in addressing systemic issues like destitution within the asylum and immigration context.

Our heartfelt thanks to Ana & Mishka (A&M) Consultancy, a partnership of two consultants with lived experience of the UK immigration and asylum system, who have evaluated our Community Research Programme. They evaluated our recruitment and training of Community Researchers with lived experience; how sustainable the programme has been; and how it has influenced systemic change in policy and practice. The report is full of ideas on how to improve. There might be some useful learnings for other organisations! Read it now: (fb)
This #RefugeeWeek, NACCOM and Homeless Link are sending a clear signal that the immigration and asylum systems are a direct cause of homelessness. In our new blog, we outline our key recommendations to improve the move-on process. Evidence from NACCOM’s frontline members indicates that the 56-day move-on has been a lifeline for new refugees, and had a positive impact for the service providers supporting people through it. As evaluation of the move-on period continues, there is a valuable opportunity to make the case for a permanent extension to 56 days, as well as our other recommendations. It’s vital that people exiting the asylum system are properly supported to rebuild their lives.
