BIRTH AID
BIRTH AID is a United Kingdom-based nonprofit organisation registered under charity number 1166776. The charity is focused on improving maternal health outcomes in developing countries by providing essential equipment, training clinicians, and delivering treatment for women who have sustained injuries related to childbirth.
Mission and Activities
The primary mission of BIRTH AID is to support women affected by childbirth injuries in the developing world. The organisation addresses the critical need for medical equipment and clinical training to enhance the quality of maternal healthcare in resource-limited settings. By equipping healthcare providers with the necessary skills and resources, BIRTH AID aims to reduce the incidence and impact of childbirth-related injuries, which can have devastating consequences for mothers and families.
Impact and Outreach
BIRTH AID operates by collaborating with local health facilities and professionals to facilitate sustainable improvements in maternity care. Its work includes the distribution of medical equipment and the conduct of hands-on training programs for clinicians to manage and treat childbirth injuries effectively. Through these interventions, the charity contributes to the global effort to improve maternal health and support women's wellbeing following childbirth.
Registration and Governance
BIRTH AID is officially registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales under the registration number 1166776. As a registered charity, it operates under the governance and regulatory framework established for charitable organisations in the UK, ensuring transparency and accountability in its operations.
BIRTH AID serves as a crucial link in addressing maternal health disparities by focusing on injury prevention and treatment in childbirth, particularly in underserved areas, thereby enhancing the quality of life for women and their families in developing regions[2].

Home More IN CHILDBIRTH WOMEN AND THEIR BABIES ARE 40 TIMES MORE LIKELY TO DIE OR SUFFER SEVERE INJURIES. In Uganda living with severe childbirth injuries is very debilitating most women live without running water and electricity and the loss of control of bodily functions can lead to rejection and social isolation. An operation can transform the lives of these women and enable them to return to a normal life in their community. We aim to improve the health wellbeing and dignity of women in the Rwenzori region of western Uganda by providing training and education to healthcare professionals locally Delivered through Surgical training camps Sharing new techniques and procedures Providing educational support for training Locally delivered programmes PREVENTING HARM TO MOTHERS ANDBABIES IN CHILDBIRTH.
