Barnsley Archives and Local Studies will be at Mapplewell Library this Monday 20th October for their pop-up archives, where they travel around the borough each month to a different library venue. There will be a range of digital resources on offer including the Barnsley Chronicle from 1858-2023 as well as indexes to cemetery burials and building plans. It’s World Food Day, and we’ve discovered a delightfully British take on pizza from an 1874 edition of the Barnsley Chronicle – the crumpet pizza! THANKYOU Worsbrough Mills 400th anniversary will truly be a special occasion as we announce following our SAVETHEMILL campaign funding has been secured to preserve this iconic landmark. The support from the local community and Barnsley Council is a testament to how much this piece of history means to everyone. Celebrating 400 years is an incredible milestone and its great to know that future generations will be able to appreciate and experience the mill.
