▪ Survey Finds Greater Support for Women’s Wartime Roles than Post-Conflict ▪ A survey by PRIO conducted in Ukraine at the turn of 2024–2025 found notably higher acceptance of women’s participation in national defence during wartime than in a post-war scenario. While women’s involvement in active military service, leadership, and health care was more accepted during the conflict, views on their political participation were comparably more positive in a post-war context. 👩🏻💼 The survey also showed that 11% of respondents had served in combat roles - 17% of men and 5% of women. These findings reflect evolving gender roles and perceptions against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict. 👀 Read more about the survey's results: https://www.prio.org/publications/14480 ✨ Keep up to date through our website: https://www.securitywomen.org (fb)
◼️ The peace deal that put women first: What Colombia taught the world ◼️ Colombia made history by negotiating the world’s first peace accord that included a gender perspective from the outset, a bold move that reshapes how we define peace and security. Today, the country’s efforts continue to inspire, from the reintegration of thousands of former women combatants to the defense of land rights, environmental activism, and healing through Afro-Colombian cultural expression. With a new National Action Plan adopted in 2024, Colombia reinforces its commitment to the Women, Peace and Security agenda, offering a powerful example for other nations striving to build sustainable peace from the ground up. 📚Want to learn more?
