🛩️ Remembering 'The Few' – 85 Years On During the summer of 1940, the skies above the United Kingdom bore witness to one of the most defining moments of the Second World War. The Battle of Britain lasted 112 days, from 10 July to 31 October 1940. As we approach Battle of Britain Day on 15 September, we’re sharing the stories of the aircrew who gave their lives. Like the story of Pilot Officer George James Drake, born in July 1920 in South Africa. Drake saw action in May 1940 during the Norway campaign and again in August over the north of England. His flying skills and commitment were tested during these early years of the Second World War. If you have a story to tell, please upload it to For Evermore and help us keep their memory alive. (fb)
🛩️ Remembering 'The Few' – 85 Years On During the summer of 1940, the skies above the United Kingdom bore witness to one of the most defining moments of the Second World War. Often outnumbered, young RAF pilots—many still in their teens—faced relentless Luftwaffe attacks in a desperate bid to defend Britain from invasion. The Battle of Britain lasted 112 days, from 10 July to 31 October 1940. As we approach Battle of Britain Day on 15 September, we’re sharing the stories of the aircrew who gave their lives. Like the story of Pilot Officer Dennis Browne. Born in 1918, survived crashes, flew in France, and fought bravely in the Battle of Britain. On 15 Aug 1940, he was lost in action off Harwich. If you have a story to tell, please upload it to For Evermore and help us keep their memory alive. (fb)
