Tomorrow marks the beginning of Baby Loss Awareness Week: 9th-15th October. This week means a lot to us and to many of our community. It’s a time when we honour and thank our very special ‘Snowdrop Donors’ who choose to donate their milk after bereavement to help other families, and we remember their much-loved babies. For some, this can be a very difficult week and can bring up painful emotions. If you’d rather not take part in Baby Loss Awareness Week, it’s important to look after your wellbeing and it may help to mute social media posts or opt out of emails. Today our team were at Imperial College London for a study day around culturally informed care, equitable access to donor human milk and Milk Kinship, led by Research Midwife Amina Hatia. It was great to come together to continue the important conversations around supporting families so they can make informed choices, developing culturally specific resources, and tackling the inequalities that exist in the UK.
