Featuring a diverse and evocative lineup, the concert includes William Grant Still’s Afro-American Symphony, a landmark work blending blues, jazz, and classical form; Hugo Alfvén’s Midsommarvaka (Swedish Rhapsody No. 1), a vibrant depiction of Scandinavian midsummer festivities; and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition in Tushmalov’s striking orchestration, bringing to life a gallery of vivid musical portraits.
