Cornwall Mind

Cornwall Mind is a UK nonprofit organisation focused on supporting mental health in Cornwall. It is part of a network of over 100 local Mind charities across England and Wales.

History

Cornwall Mind was formally established in 2019, although its roots trace back to earlier iterations, including Carrick and Restormel Mind, which have been supporting local communities for many years.

Mission

The charity aims to improve mental health and wellbeing by providing a range of services that focus on recovery and empowerment. It recognizes the importance of mental health support, given that over one in four people in Cornwall experience mental health issues.

Services and Initiatives

Cornwall Mind offers various wellbeing activities and initiatives. It operates community-focused projects, including the Reading Room coffee and bookshop in Bodmin, which serves as a community space. The charity also produces a radio show and podcast titled “A Space To Speak Your Mind” in collaboration with local radio stations, featuring contributions from individuals with lived experience of mental health difficulties.

Cornwall Mind is a chosen charity partner for several local events and initiatives, highlighting its role in the community. Additionally, it has appointed ambassadors from local sports figures, such as a para surfing champion, to further its outreach and awareness efforts.
