Army Families Federation
The Army Families Federation (AFF) is a charitable incorporated organisation in the United Kingdom, operating with the charity number 1176393. It was established to serve as the independent voice for Army personnel and their families worldwide.
History
The AFF was formally renamed in May 1996 and is based in Andover, Hampshire. It functions under a constitution approved by the Charities Commission.
Mission
The primary mission of the AFF is to improve the quality of life for Army families. This is achieved by providing guidance, support, and advocacy on unique challenges that impact family life due to military service. The organisation actively engages with the chain of command and policy makers to address issues affecting these families.
Support Services
The AFF offers a range of support services, including guidance on:
- Housing: Assistance with navigating housing policies and accessing suitable accommodations.
- Health and Additional Needs: Support for families with health and additional needs, ensuring they have access to necessary services.
- Education and Childcare: Assistance with educational and childcare options, helping families navigate these systems.
- Money and Allowances: Guidance on financial matters, including military allowances and benefits.
- Spouse & Partner Employment and Training: Support for spouses and partners seeking employment or further training.
- Immigration Services: The AFF employs qualified immigration advisors, accredited by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC), providing expert advice on immigration issues for non-UK families.
