Current club President Gareth Dibble hands over the chain of office to incoming President Lion Jonathan Kirkland in our popular Otley bookshop. Incoming President Jonathan is planning an informal social gathering at the weekend where he plans to discuss his plans/ideas for the coming year. The club would also like to wish Lion Gareth all the best as he will be leaving Otley Lions Club after 9 years. When asked Gareth commented, “I have been a member of Otley Lions for 9yrs and during this time we have supported some great causes and had a lot of fun fundraising along the way. I have made some good friends in Lions and wish the club well in the coming year and beyond. Amongst the great causes we have supported in the last 12 months I am proud to have been able to support 2 great charities through my Presidents project, Prickly Pigs Hedgehog Rescue and Homeless Hampers both provide vital support in their areas.” We also have some other Lions who will be leaving us at the end of June, the club would like to thank Lions Beckie Dibble, Richard Phillips and Valerie Dand for all of their hard work over the years in fundraising and taking on roles within the club to help us do all that we do. Club President Gareth Dibble visited Lion Lawrence Chaffer this afternoon. Lawrence has been a member for almost 22 years, he was presented with his 20yr membership chevron from Lions Clubs International. Gareth said that the presentation had been delayed due to Covid and some health matters but it was great to finally present this and spend some time chatting. (fb)
