Good news! Creative Land Trust has, on behalf of Newham London Council, secured £3.8 million from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and other funders. This will ensure completion of the second and final phase of restoring Alice Billing House, a Grade II listed firefighters’ quarters in the heart of Stratford. The funding comes a year since we opened the doors of the South building, under budget and on time, and will allow the full refurbishment of the North building, more than doubling the capacity of available affordable artist studios, and including a new pavilion and garden that will be open to the public, alongside ongoing programming and artist residencies. This month, we hosted a group from the GLA, World Cities Culture Forum and the City of Stockholm's Culture and Planning departments, with a tour of our Wallis Road artist studios, managed by Mainyard Studios. The tour was part of a wider programme which they are participating in across London.
