One of the best collections of Oaks anywhere in the world set in the romantic Devon countryside One of the best collections of Oaks anywhere in the world The Trustees have a principal focus on support of a pre-eminent arboretum of the genus Quercus for the familiarisation and education of the public in oaks and of research into them. They also promote the protection of nature and especially of rare and endangered species of the oak genus. The Trustees use their income for these objects and may make grants to support others with similar objects.

The largest collection of Oaks in the UK Chevithorne Barton in Devon UK represent the largest and most comprehensive Oak collection in the UK and possibly the world with over 440 Quercus and newly planted areas complementing walled gardens summer borders and a woodland of rare trees and shrubs. In spring the garden features a large collection of Magnolias Camellias and Rhododendrons. Open by arrangement This garden opens by arrangement out with our scheduled open days. Please contact the Head Gardener for the opportunity to discuss your requirements for a group or bespoke visit.
