October is Black History Month and this week we were working with our primary Hub and sharing stories. One story is the beautifully written Nana’s Front Room by Tamzin AJ, produced by TOCS with the support of @_blackheritagehub_ The story promoted conversations of the children’s own grandmas, some of them who are no longer with us and the memories and heritage, and the way it makes them feel. The children spoke about how we all make mistakes and that we keep trying and that adults make mistakes too. We spoke about the people in our lives that build us up and encourage us and about those who we never knew who paved the way for us to be able to do what we do. This week has been a busy week and it’s only Thursday! The highlight so far has to have been Tuesday evening at the Exodus Hub at @nycc_london where we welcomed the Chair of or Board Archbishop Angaelos and his guests to visit the Hub and see what we do with our young people. Creative arts including T-shirt and tote bag design and printing, jewellery making, canvas art and hairdressing and of course our very popular Teen Talk session led by @fos.coaching with even more inspiring special guests @traplinelegacy @peachespresents @officiallypearlslorenwisdom and the young ambassadors from the @curateyourgenius @wearedisplacedd UnMute programme. Young people heard our guests stories and why they do what they do now working with young people and in the community and they were presented with real life scenarios and discussed how they might deal with them as young people living in London in 2025. The passion is the room was palpable and we are so grateful to be able to provide these opportunities for our youth.
