Wakefield Pride

Wakefield Pride is so excited to partner with Noisy Cow Theatre Company to bring a fundraising event to Wakefield on June 14th! In reaction to the Supreme Court ruling, Noisy Cow and Wakefield Pride are excited to partner to bring this event to the community and support the T of LGBTQ+. Funds raised will directly go towards Gendered Intelligence - a charity which organises spaces for young people to get together, meet other trans, non-binary and gender-questioning people and speak to trustworthy adults who are also trans as well as trips and swimming lessons. Charities like these are those we are honoured to be able to support. The event will be hosted at The Golden Pineapple on Wood Street 6pm while 10pm. They will be serving up a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options for everyone to enjoy, with a custom menu along-side their 2-4-£12 menu. Noisycowcommunitytheatre will be creating an open and accepting space, with open mic and karaoke! At Wakefield Pride, we stand firmly and unapologetically with our trans siblings. In light of recent court rulings and a growing wave of political hostility, we want to make one thing absolutely clear: trans rights are human rights. We understand the pain and frustration felt as some political parties turn their backs on the LGBTQ+ community—especially trans people, who are so often targeted in harmful rhetoric and policy. We believe that banning these political parties from Pride loses a vital opportunity to challenge them directly. Our Pride has always been, and will always be, a protest. By allowing them to attend, we create space to confront injustice, question their actions, and demand change—loudly and visibly. We have true allies and supporters within these institutions. Excluding them means shutting the door on people who stand beside us and are fighting for progress from within. Wakefield Pride exists to uplift and protect all LGBTQ+ people, every day—not just during Pride weekend. We will never stop celebrating queer joy or fighting against the forces that seek to erase us.
