The club was established during the COVID-19 pandemic by Danielle Boyd, Charlotte Barnham, and Holly Walker. The founders, passionate about football, utilized the pandemic's downtime to create opportunities for women in Surrey, recognizing a lack of professional training environments in the area. The name "Ashmount Leigh" draws inspiration from Danielle and Charlotte's alma mater in the United States, where they played collegiate soccer. "Leigh" is also a tribute to the grandfather of their club secretary, Rosanne Fine.

Ashmount Leigh FC aims to develop individuals not only in football skills but also as people. It seeks to create a positive impact on the community by increasing participation in sports and providing a welcoming space for anyone over the age of 16 to engage in football. The club emphasizes affordability and inclusivity, offering subsidized membership fees and training equipment costs to ensure that financial barriers do not limit participation.
Activities and Operations
The club competes in the London & South East Regional Women's Football League, Division 1 North. Home matches are held at Meadowbank Football Ground in Dorking. Ashmount Leigh FC fosters a social yet professional environment where players feel part of a footballing family that values both athletic and personal development.
Support and Sponsorship
The club receives support from local businesses, which helps sustain its community-focused initiatives despite challenges such as the pandemic.
