We are a registered charity providing activities, events and support for children with disabilities and their families across the North East. Our charity registration number is 1195932. The Sensory Place provide a wide range of inclusive activities for disabled children and their families across Sunderland, County Durham and surrounding areas. This includes social, leisure and sporting activities. We provide safe and non-judgemental spaces where everyone is able to be themselves and where families can meet other likeminded families. We also provide courses for parents and carers.

We are all parents of a child or children with a disability and we felt that there were just not enough places to go or things to do when you have a child who has additional needs as mainstream activities are just not accessible for many different reasons. We also experienced judgement and isolation as other people do not always understand the difficulties families like ours face.
