One student, one recent graduate, and two tutors from the School of Herbal Medicine travelled to Belgium recently to take part in a specially organised weekend of Endobiogenic training with Dr Chahine. Dr Chahine is a Specialist in Emergency Medicine and President of the Belgian Institute of Endobiogeny. Also teaching us was Sleiman Dandan, a Pharmacist who has specialised in making up herbal prescriptions needed in Endobiogenic Pharmacy. Our group was able to visit his Pharmacy in Brussels and watch him mix up herbal powders for capsules. Initially it felt a bit surreal to see an orthodox consultant/surgeon/emergency medicine specialist write herbal prescriptions on the board, but Dr Chahine is so energetically behind using plants in this way that soon it seemed perfectly natural... To witness Sleiman, a modern-day Pharmacist grind up powders with a pestle and mortar was pure joy. Both men were very free and generous with their knowledge and prescriptions that we came away with practical suggestions that will influence our dispensing. This training adds much depth of understanding of how medicinal plants work with human physiology, and hopefully we plan two blocks of training a year, one in Belgium and one in London. (fb)
